We are thrilled to announce that Professor Dr. Anna Köttgen (University of Freiburg) will be our honorary speaker for the CMMC Lecture. Her talk is titled 'The value of population studies for translational research`.
Anna Köttgen is a physician and epidemiologist who directs the Institute of Genetic Epidemiology at the Medical Center - University of Freiburg. She is also the spokesperson of the DFG-funded CRC 1453 (“Nephrogenetics”).
Her research focuses on complex genetic traits and diseases, particularly kidney and metabolic diseases. Anna Köttgen has done an amazing job linking genetic, molecular, and clinical data from participants in large patient and population studies.
Her work has led to important scientific contributions to the understanding of physiological kidney function. She has also identified a large number of previously unknown risk genes for kidney disease and metabolic disorders such as gout. Anna leads several large research collaborations, for example the international CKDGen Consortium Meta Analysis Data."
