Outline of the program
This Interdisciplinary Program Molecular Medicine focuses on the cellular and molecular mechanisms of human disease. Students are encouraged to take advantage of the wide range of research and training opportunities available within the Faculty of Medicine and the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences of the University of Cologne.
The Interdisciplinary Program Molecular Medicine features a flexible curriculum that allows students to tailor a course of study to fit their particular educational background and their specific research interests. The attendence forms can be downloaded here.
The student will meet regularly with two tutors for advice concerning the planning of his or her courses and to discuss specific issues related to the thesis project. The tutor meeting form can be downloaded here.
You can find the overall curriculum of the IPMM and selected courses and seminars here. In addition to the time devoted to the student's PhD research work a minimum of 4 hours per week per term (2 terms per year) of formal coursework, distributed over four terms, is required for completion.
