Mechanism that controls cilia length identified


 A basic cell biological question of how centriolar and ciliary lengths are regulated has remained unknown. Anand Ramani and Li Ming Gooi, members of Jay Gopalakrishnan´s

research group have identified a cellular mechanism that regulates centriolar and ciliary lengths.

The researchers have shown their findings by solving crystal structure of CPAP-tubulin complex and identified their biological significance in fruit flies. 

This work is an international collaborative work funded by the he Human Frontier Science Program (HFSP) shared by the laboratory of Jay Gopalakrishnan and Haitao Li of Tsinghua University, China.
