Speaker: Session 2 - Amino Acid Metabolism
Professor David E Sanin is Assistant Professor at the Bloomberg-Kimmel Institute for Cancer Immunotherapy, Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, Baltimore, USA, where he investigates the metabolic regulation of immune responses in cancer and inflammatory disease.
His research focuses on immunometabolism, with particular emphasis on how metabolic pathways and nutrient availability shape immune cell function within the tumor microenvironment. Prof. Sanin has contributed to defining how metabolic constraints influence T cell and myeloid cell activity and how these processes impact anti-tumor immunity. His work aims to uncover how metabolic reprogramming governs immune cell fate and function under conditions of cellular stress.
Using molecular, cellular, and in vivo approaches, his research provides mechanistic insight into how immune responses are regulated in metabolically challenging environments. These studies contribute to the identification of therapeutic strategies that target metabolic pathways to enhance anti-tumor immunity and modulate inflammatory responses.
Professor Sanin’s work has gained international recognition in the field of immunometabolism and is supported by competitive research funding.
