Dr. med. Arvid Sandforth is an early career clinician scientist in the Department of Endocrinology and Metabolic Medicine at Charité Universitätsmedizin Berlin.
He conducted his doctoral research at the University of Tübingen and the Institute for Diabetes Research and Metabolic Diseases. His work examined how lifestyle interventions affect glucose regulation, insulin sensitivity, insulin secretion, and body fat distribution.
His research has helped establish prediabetes remission as a clinically meaningful target for preventing type 2 diabetes, leading to publications in The Lancet Diabetes & Endocrinology, and Nature Medicine.
In recognition of his contributions to diabetes prevention and clinical diabetology, Dr. Sandforth received the DGIM Prevention Award and the Silvia King Prize of the German Diabetes Association in 2026.
