Prof. Cursiefen continues as Secretary General at DOG

At its 122nd Annual Meeting in Berlin, the German Ophthalmological Society (DOG) elected Prof. Dr. Claus Cursiefen, Director of the Center for Ophthalmology at the University Hospital of Cologne, as Secretary General for a further four years.

As Secretary General, the renowned ophthalmologist, who is also an Executiv Board Member and researcher at the Center for Molecular Medicine Cologne (CMMC), is responsible for ensuring the continuity of the DOG's work on fundamental issues. He is responsible for maintaining contacts with other associations and societies, chambers and public administration. The Munich office also reports to the Secretary General. Prof. Cursiefen is the fourth Secretary General in the history of the Society. 

The DOG is the professional representative of scientific ophthalmology and, with more than 8,000 members, the oldest ophthalmological society in the world. According to Prof. Cursiefen, the main goals for his term of office are to strengthen ophthalmological research and to internationalize the society.
