Refugee Aid Project in Poland

Dear all,

Thanks to the initiative of CECAD,  we - CECAD, CMMC and the Biology Department - have joined forces and would like to take the opportunity to provide quick and direct help to refugees from Ukraine by collecting donations in kind (SACHSPENDEN) for the benefit of a refugee aid project in Poland. The donations will be given to a relief organization in Erftstadt (near Cologne) that originated from the Flood Help (Fluthilfe). They run a warehouse, collect donations and organize direct transports, mainly to a Polish twin town of Erftstadt where many refugees are waiting. We have direct contact to the organizers, the transports are accompanied, documented and goods are handed over to the Polish authorities on site.

Thank you to all of you who have already dropped off "SACHSPENDEN“ on Thursday. This is outstanding.

We collect today all day and tomorrow until noon. Please donate only items that as listed on the "Sachspenden-Liste". These items are corresponding to the needs.

WHEN/WHERE
Dates:

• March 31, 2022 (all-day) and April 01, 2022 (until noon)

Collection points - Medical Campus:   

• CMMC Research Building - Foyer
• CECAD Building -  Lecture Hall, Ground Floor and with the exception on March 31, 2022  from 1.30 - 4.00 p.m.

WATER SUPPLY

Soap, toothbrushes, toothpaste, pads, tampons, wet wipes, diapers, trash bags.

ACCOMMODATION
Sleeping bags, sleeping pads, blankets, comforters, pillows, bedding, towels (please be sure everything is clean!!), folding cots, 

MEDICAL SUPPLIES
Wound disinfection, first aid kits, bandages, thermofoils (rescue blankets), painkillers (acetylsalicylic acid, ibuprofen, paracetamol), syringes, antihypertensive medications, hemostatic medications, sterile gowns, sterile gloves, sterilizers, empty blood bags, medical splints, emergency splints, emergency neck braces and fixings, medical bedding, mattresses, bandages, emergency bags for individual use/emergency kits, wound care (sutures), disinfectants, stretchers, spine boards, transport chairs, surgical pillows, surgical supplies, minor procedure lights, rescue blankets, evacuation drapes, collagen fleece, Surgical Sponge Tahocomb, saline solution, hemostatic agent tranexamic acid, Hydrocoll wound dressing, compresses, rescue/medical transport vehicles and furniture.

TRANSPORTATION NEEDS
Euro pallets, disposable pallets, moving boxes, standard sturdy boxes

Candles, tea lights, lighters, camping stoves with fuel, gas stoves as well as gas cartridges, batteries of all sizes, flashlights, headlamps, rechargeable batteries, emergency generators, diesel generators, vegetable oil generators, power banks, spare canisters, cable drums

FOR THE PROTECTION OF THE CIVIL POPULATION
Protective vests, protective clothing, protective helmets (including firefighter helmets), sandbags
