CMMC Election 2026
New CMMC Leadership Elected
The Center for Molecular Medicine Cologne (CMMC) is pleased to announce the election of its new leadership team for the current funding period 2026-2028.
Professor Sabine Eming (Department of Dermatology – Faculty of Medicine) has been elected as CMMC Chairperson. Having served as CMMC Vice Chairperson for many years, she brings extensive experience, continuity, and a strong commitment to the CMMC to her new role. She takes over from Professor Thomas Benzing, who is passing on the baton after approximately 15 years as CMMC Chairperson.
Professor Günter Schwarz (Institute of Biochemistry – Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences) will continue to serve as CMMC Vice Chairperson. Professor Jonathan Jantsch (Institute of Medical Microbiology, Immunology and Hygiene – Faculty of Medicine) has been elected CMMC Vice Chairperson, bringing an additional perspective to the leadership team.
The new CMMC leadership team brings together continuity, scientific excellence, and new perspectives. The elected Chairperson and Vice Chairpersons would like to thank all eligible voters for the trust placed in them and look forward to working together with them to further strengthen the CMMC.
The CMMC warmly congratulates the newly elected Chairperson and Vice Chairpersons and thanks them for their willingness to take on these important roles within the center.
Together with the CMMC community, the new leadership team looks forward to shaping the next phase of the CMMC’s development and advancing its mission as a leading interdisciplinary center for molecular medicine.
