1st Cologne Symposium on the missing links
in HPV-biology: Focus on head & neck and skin cancer
May 17 - 18, 2019

Dear Friends - Dear Colleagues - Dear Students

It is our great pleasure to announce the Cologne Symposium on "Missing Links in HPV biology focusing on  head & neck and skin cancer".

Human papillomavirus (HPV) infection is associated with several cancers such as anogenital cancers, head & neck and skin carcinomas. HPV-related carcinogenesis is well investigated in anogenital tumors whereas the oncogenic mechanisms of these viruses in the development of carcinomas outside the genital region, especially in the oropharynx and skin, are not well understood.

The symposium provides a platform for experts in the field to address the importance of HPV genus-specific and cross-genus virus-host interactions. The aim is to discuss the latest research and scientific experience with scientists and clinicians working on or interested in HPV-driven cancer of the head & neck region and the skin.

We are delighted that the following experts will address these aspects during six sessions:

Epidemology
Herbert Pfister
- Cologne, DE Ulrike Wieland - Cologne, DE Sjoerd H van der Burg - Leiden, NL

Immunology
Tim Waterboer - Heidelberg, DE Tina Dalianis - Stockholm, SE

Genetics
Julie George
- Cologne, DE • Ernst Jan Speel - Maastricht, NL Ruud H Brakenhof - Amsterdam, NL

Stem cell and differentitation
Michael Herf
- Liege, BE • Girish Patel - Cardiff, UK • Frank Rösl - Heidelberg, DE • Peter M Howley -  Boston, US

Carcinogenesis
Gilles Traves
- Strasbourg, FR • Nicholas N Wallace - Manhattan, US • Karl Münger - Boston, US

Epigenetics
Daniele Bergamaschi
- London, UK • Magnus von Knebel-Doeberitz - Heidelberg, DE • Jochen Hess - Heidelberg, DE

We are expecting a highly interactive meeting sparked by the panel of internationally renowned speakers, who will discuss their latest research developments with an audience of scientists and physicians. We hope that the symposium will inspire in depth discussions that can be the basis for new interdisciplinary collaborations.

Free Online Registration required: Following the tradition of the Center for Molecular Medicine Cologne (CMMC) the participation in the Symposium is free of charge. Online registration

We are looking forward to meeting you and the members of your institution at the Symposium in May 2019

Sincerely yours
