Family support, gender and diversity
Gender Equality, according to §6 “Landesgleichstellungsgesetz” NRW (LGG), has three major principals: promotion of equality between women and men, improving the compatibility of work and family life for women and men, and reduction of the under-representation of women.
The CMMC is committed to gender equality and diversity, and supports the provision of equal opportunities and the compatibility of family and career in cooperation with the Gender Equality Officer of the University Hospital Cologne and the Dual Career and Family Support as well as the Gender Equality Commission at the University of Cologne.
The CMMC has a strong interest in supporting female research scientists and clinicians in general and those staff members with children in particular.
The CMMC promotes advancement and further training of female staff and research scientists, offers workshops specifically designed for women scientists, and provides active family support, e.g. finding baby sitters, daycare, etc. The use of the ParentsKids Room is currently not possible. A changing table is located in the accessible unisex rest room (EG.024).
The CMMC uses gender-neutral language in accordance with the recommendations of the Gender Equality Office of the University of Cologne.

Family-consciuos Faculty of Medicine Cologne
The Faculty of Medicine Cologne has set itself the goal of being a family-conscious employer. The focus here is on the compatibility of family, work and career. Scientists should be able to start a family as employees of the University Hospital Cologne or the Faculty of Medicine without having to fear a career break. Many good approaches have already been found, especially in the area of equal opportunities, but the implementation of the goals requires constant work and cooperation between all those involved.
