Preparation of the new CMMC funding period

Running period Jan. 2017 - Dec. 2019

The support of individual projects for three years - the so-called Individual Project Funding Program (IPEP) - has been a cornerstone of CMMC funding policy right from the beginning of the Center. The aim of the CMMC is to provide funding for the development of long-term, high risk, high quality, innovative biomedical projects that demonstrate a clear disease-oriented focus having clinical impact. The submission of project proposals refers only to members of the Faculty of Medicine and the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences of the UoC working in biomedical research areas. Research proposals that meet the formal criteria qualify for the scientific evaluation process.

The scientific evaluation process of submitted project proposals has been initiated in June 2016.

The number of funded projects as well as the level of funding depends on the overall number of excellent research proposals that receive the "final recommendation for funding". However, most successful applicants receive around 70.000 €/ year for personnel and consumables for positively evaluated research proposals. Research proposals that meet the formal criteria qualify for the scientific evaluation process.

The internal and external evaluation procedure, which we consider to be instrumental in setting high standards for the research activities, is summarized in the following overview:

Nov. 02 - 03, 2016 - Visit of the External Scientific Advisory Board

The final evaluation of the research proposals will take place from Nov. 02 - 03, 2016 (step V) during the site visit of the Scientific Advisory Board as follows:

Nov. 02, 2016: Poster presentation

All applicants are asked to present a poster on Nov. 02, 2016 from 12.00 a.m. to 4.00 p.m.
Location: seminar rooms and foyer in the CMMC-Research Building.

Nov. 03, 2016: Announcement of the positively evaluated project proposals

The final evaluation will take place at the plenary meeting with the External Scientific Advisory Board (SAB) and CMMC Executive Evaluation Board (EC-EVA-B) on Nov. 03, 2016.

The applicants whose research proposals will receive "the recommendation for funding" as final vote, will be announced after the plenary meeting.
